R.S.V.P. by Oct. 20th to Jeanne at 913-649-0438
Members and friends of Faith, Overland Park, Resurrection and St. James Lutheran churches are gathering on October 24th to share a meal and ministry insights, to celebrate successes and acknowledge losses,... and to continue our corporate discernment on how God is calling us together and equipping us for mission.
At our first gathering in August, we practiced corporate spiritual listening using images, reviewed the life cycle of congregations and the unique challenges we share as first rim suburban congregations. We chose a couple of initial steps to experiment with in our formational process and challenged ourselves to go out into our communities and neighborhoods with new eyes (as tourists or journalists).
At this event we will discover our individual and congregational “spiritual types” and discuss how we can be an engaging community for people of diverse needs. We will also spend time reporting our observations as tourists and journalists, debrief our initial experiments, and choose one or two new ones. Pastor Nate Haaland will lead us in a discussion on the value of defining and targeting our strengths in order to clarify our missional goals.
We will be joined by Pastor Len Dale, Director of Evangelical Mission serving the Central States Synod, and Pastor Donna Simon who is the Area 7 Dean and Mission Table Convener. Hope to see you all there!
