40 DayS of Lent
The Rev. Dr. Alix Pridgen
jOIN us for worship on Ash Wednesday, March 5 at 7:00 pm
WHAT IS ASH WEDNESDAY?
Following ancient traditions in which ashes are a sign of repentance, we place crosses on our foreheads, remembering that there are times we feel (and act) like dirt. When we hear the words, “From dust you have come, and to dust you will return,” we remember that as God created humanity out of the dust of the earth, God can still do amazing things with dirt.
What is Lent?
Noah spent 40 days in the rain trusting God, the Hebrew people spent 40 years in the desert relearning who they were, and Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness preparing to deliver God’s grace. This week we enter the Season of Lent, the 40 days we spend every year practicing prayer, study, generosity, and community. Through this season, we remember who we are, tend to our relationship with God, and practice delivering God’s love.
TRAINING SEASON
